These guidelines for developing technical standards for battery energy storage systems in Thailand are based on the NREL report, Key Considerations for Adoption of Technical Codes and Standards for Battery Energy Storage Systems in Thailand, to provide guidance on best practices for inverter-based resources connecting energy storage systems to transmission and distribution-level networks. The guidelines aim to provide the Thailand Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission (OERC) and relevant stakeholders a comprehensive guide and roadmap for developing the technical codes for energy storage systems. These guidelines leverage the most current standards available (IEC, IEEE, AS/NZS) covering an overview, hazard mitigation, system integration, design, and permitting, and are also applicable to those interested in developing technical codes for battery energy storage systems.
